To Make Michigan Competitive, Local Communities Need Comprehensive Transportation Plan

LANSING, Michigan - Earlier today the Municipal League’s legislative advocacy team testified before the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation about the need to increase funding in our local roads. The following statement regarding the League’s testimony can be attributed to Michigan Municipal League CEO and Executive Director Dan Gilmartin.

“Our members advocate for a long-term, comprehensive transportation plan that invests in our infrastructure at ALL levels. State leaders must compromise to find a solution that raises new revenue for local road maintenance and repair, addresses the needs of our state trunk lines, and supports urban and rural transit systems. Doing so will make our state more competitive in our global economy.  For Michigan to move forward, we need to invest from the driveway to the highway, ensuring whether you travel by car, bus or bike, our transportation network meets the mobility needs of all users.”
