The League Capital Office Has Moved to a Bigger, Better Location!

Symbolic of our ever-increasing advocacy efforts, we have moved our state and federal affairs team from 320 N. Washington Square to our new Capital Office, located on the first floor of the historic Mutual Building, 208 N. Capitol Avenue, just a stone's throw from the Capitol Dome. 

Our new home in the Mutual Building is on the National Register of Historic Buildings and is anticipated to be LEED certified at the gold level.  The MML office has been renovated and professionally designed; think Art Deco meets Class A contemporary.

"There is a strong sense of dignity, a civic presence here that we can all appreciate," said Executive Director Dan Gilmartin, "with the added contemporary design, this office speaks volumes for this organization and is very symbolic of our history as a League--we value tradition, but constantly seek innovation." 

Our grand opening will be April 2, 2008, during the Capital Conference Open House/Reception, but feel free to stop in anytime! The entire space was designed with you in mind, so whether you just want to shoot the breeze with staff or need a place to hang your hat for a few hours, please, be our guest!

The League's new 9,000 square foot space opens into a historic corridor that separates several board rooms, restored to their original luster, from the newly added contemporary office, training and reception areas.

The original fifth story roof was converted into a sixth floor, complete with glass-enclosed foyer and conference rooms that offer a panoramic view of the Capitol.

The basement's former basketball court, turned museum has also been transformed into a training facility.

The building also houses the Christman Company, the construction services firm responsible for the renovation, and the Kelley Cawthorne lobbying firm.

Parking
The closest parking structure is the North Capitol ramp (on the corner of North Capitol Ave and Shiawassee St).
