Sidewalks

Question:
We are looking for sample language for an ordinance requiring construction of sidewalks upon building construction.

Answer:
Milford requires sidewalk construction along property frontage when a new principal building is erected, when an existing principal building is extensively altered, when a building or site use requires site plan review and to replace existing sidewalk to eliminate a hazard. Traverse City and Grand Ledge have similar requirements. There are variations from city to city.  Copies of some sample ordinances are available on this web site.
