Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Mobile Home Parks
Question:
Have any communities in the state had success in negotiating
mobile home park standards that are higher than those mandated by the
State Mobile Home Park Commission? In particular, I am interested in standards
as they relate to park layout (i.e. lot sizes, open space, etc.), aesthetics
(landscaping, etc.), and fair share taxation (i.e. payment-in-lieu of
taxes).
Answer:
This is an issue facing many Michigan communities now. We do
not have a great deal of available information and we would appreciate
having copies of any ordinances, policies or negotiated agreements other
communities have found to be useful. We do have copies of the ordinances
from Niles, Wayland, and Dearborn Heights as well as copies of the Mobile
Home Commission Act and Other Related Statutes and Mobile Home
Commission Rules and the court ordered agreement from Pennfield Charter
Township.
