Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Intergovernmental
Agreements/Cooperation
Question:
Our city is a member of a fire district with an adjacent township.
The pumper trucks use city water and there is no provision for the city
to recover the costs. What do others do?
Answer:
We receive SO.... many questions on operations of intergovernmental
fire districts, authorities, etc. We desperately need recent agreements,
policies and budgets. We provided to this member copies of intergovernmental
fire agreements from Southfield and Bad Axe, as well as ordinances on
fire hydrant use.
Question:
Do you have information on intergovernmental and/or intergenerational
activity centers? For example a senior citizens center and a child day
care facility as a joint effort with a school district?
Answer:
Another intergovernmental cooperation question! I found only
one item of interest and that was an article in a personnel management
newsletter, Day Care That Spans the Generations. I thought possibly
we would find an achievement award on this type of program, but no luck.
Do any of you have intergenerational programs in place? Please let the
League Information Services know if you do. We don't always need written
documentation. Connecting one community with another for networking is
often just as valuable.
