Local Road Grant Program: Applications & Information
On Monday May 22, 2006, Governor Granholm enacted the Local Federal Match (LFM) program by signing SB 1132/P.A. 139, SB 1192/P.A. 140 and HB 6003/P.A. 141, sponsored by Sens. Prusi (D-Ishpeming), Gilbert (R-Algonac) and Rep. Casperson (R-Escanaba), respectively. Hopefully you have identified any possible federal earmarked high priority projects (HPP) and/or taken a close look at your out-year TIP/STIP for any projects(s) that could be advanced for construction in 2006 or 2007 (or at a minimum “let for bid” by September 2007).
As reported, MDOT has developed a new form for local road agencies to identify and submit their proposed project(s) to the MML (see attachments). Remember each project must have its own individual form. For those communities that have multiple projects, please prioritize your projects when submitting them to the MML. You do not have to prioritize an HPP project. The new form will require some basic and some very specific information, so please fill in all the related blanks to ensure a smooth and speedy review of your project(s).
Included with this are five documents, an office memorandum from MDOT Director, Kirk Steudle, the criteria for the Local Jobs Today, a list of the eligible High Priority Projects, the application form, and information to complete the Jobs Today application.
We would like to finalize the project as quickly as possible. You can send the completed applications to me, by regular mail to the MML office, by fax (517-372-7476) or by email (Jfivas@mml.org).
