For Communities Seeking an Interim Manager:

Limitations of the Interim Manager List
It is the League’s intent to provide a convenient listing of potential interim managers. The Michigan Municipal League does not employ individuals directly or indirectly through this service and in no way endorses or recommends any person on the list. The League will not conduct reference or background checks or perform any other employment screening related to this list. Rather, member communities are strongly encouraged to undertake these critical employment activities independently. As well, member communities will be responsible for negotiating the terms and conditions of employment independently with the individual they select.

Executive Search Services
The League also offers comprehensive Executive Search services to assist communities in the recruitment and selection process. Assistance in selecting an interim manager is available as a component of the broader executive search process and can be incorporated into that service agreement.

For Managers Seeking Inclusion on the Interim Manager List:

Manager Requirements

Interim Managers must:

1. Be a member in good standing with MLGMA (retiree membership is complimentary, but must be current. www.mlgma.org);

2. Be free of censure from ICMA and MLGMA;

3. Have a minimum of 5 years of public management experience;

4. Complete a questionnaire (below) to ascertain:

    • specific interest in interim assignments (geographic preference, times/days/length of assignment, etc.)

    • areas of professional expertise

    • experience in public management

    • references (to be checked by interested local communities)

5. Attach a résumé to be viewed by interested communities

Membership with International City/County Manager Association (ICMA) is strongly recommended.  This criteria helps to ensure Interim Managers are subject to an ethics code, remain abreast of professional developments in local government management, and have opportunities for professional development and related resources. 

The information collected on the questionnaire and résumé attachments are NOT password protected. Please do not include your address or other sensitive information, but rather an email address or contact number you are willing to share.
