Project Description: To evaluate the potential to use local/regional waste vegetable oil derived fuels such as biodiesel and refined vegetable oils which will make the diesel facility more economical throughout a wider range of electricity demands. A blend of diesel and vegetable oil fuels will reduce the carbon footprint as will purchasing the fuel locally, reducing transportation-related pollution. Evaluate and modify / improve current equipment to handle using a more viscous liquid fuel than regular diesel. Solicit bids from contractual service providers to collect sources of vegetable oil, and convert and produce renewable fuels that have similar properties to diesel. Analyze and report findings. Reduce greenhouse gases by reducing carbon emissions related to transportation of fuel and reducing carbon emissions related to combustion. Provide local jobs through the need to create the fuel and cost savings to consumers.
