Regional Meeting

To sharpen your public service skills and keep you informed on important community-related issues, the League offers seven Regional Meetings. With one meeting in each region, you won’t have to drive far to stay ahead of the latest trends, hear experts in related fields, and prepare yourself for the future of your profession. And, the cost is only $25 per person!

Who Should Attend?

League members who strive to be more knowledgeable, confident local officials. You will take home new skills and creative approaches for dealing with challenging professional situations.

Regional Meeting Highlight – Community Excellence Awards

The League recognizes innovative solutions through the peer-nominated Community Excellence Awards, a spirited competition we affectionately call “The Race for the Cup.”
Competitors for the 2010 Award are given five minutes to present at their respective regional meeting. Following the presentations, candidates’ presentations are reviewed and scored by the regional meeting attendees, and the winner (for that region) is announced.

The seven regional finalists go on to represent their community in the final round at the League’s Annual Convention, to be held in Dearborn September 21-24, 2010, where votes from the Convention delegation are counted, and the winner is announced at the Convention’s final event.

Enter your community in the 2010 Race for the Cup if you answer YES to the following questions:
1. Does your community have an innovative local success story, program, or project?
2. Did this project have a positive impact on your community?
3. Could another community adapt this project to meet a similar challenge?

How to Compete in the Race for the Cup…
