Sound familiar? Sounds a lot like the League's own tagline, "Better Communities, Better Michigan". But its not something we dreamed up. Rather, it is the theme of the 2010 Shanghai World Expo or world's fair.  And, as Tom Watkins writes, this event will make the 2008 Beijing Olympics look like a tea party.

As Watkins notes, there are indeed lessons for Michigan at this year's exposition. At a time when more and more people are living in cities, the event offers a chance to understand how we can build smarter communities for a more sustainable future.

And just like we at the League believe that by investing in communities and giving them the tools they need to help create economic growth, it seems to make sense that by building better cities, we'll build a better life...for all of us.
