The League, Michigan State University's Land Policy Institute and a host of other organizations are teaming up to bring local officials and citizens a series of training sessions to better prepare our state to compete in the global economy of the 21st Century.

The trainings, which are free, are part of the Michigan Prosperity Initiative, a multi-organizational effort focused on using reserach based information to develop a series of tools and strategies to help return our state to among the most prosperous places in the world.

There are three levels of trainings. New Economy 101 is intended for all audiences and will focus on our current economic circumstances, yet place emphasis on how our current assets set us up well for a prosperous economic future. The next two trainings, New Economy 201 and 301 are for those who attend the 101 session and are more geared toward local officials and professionals such as planners and economic developers. These trainings will discuss place-based regional economic planning and regional strategic growth planning.

The League encourages members to attend and with over 100 sessions all across the state, there should be one in your area.  For questions, contact MPI@landpolicy.msu.edu or call toll free, 877-436-0002, ext 100.
