Flint and Mayville have been awarded funds by the U.S. Department of Energy to develop or expand local energy assurance plans to help improve electricity reliability and energy security. 

The grants, funded under the Recovery Act, will allow the communtiies to hire and train staff and expand their capabilites to respond to a variety of energy emergencies.  Flint and mayville are two of only 43 communities across the country to receive funding.
