On February 8th, public television will premier a new documentary featuring how Detroit fits in the future of transportation in America. The 90-minute film by Aaron Woolf titled "Blueprint America: Beyond the Motor City" debuts nationally Feb. 8 on PBS. The show will examine whether it is time to fundamentally change the way Americans travel. The film notes the streetcar system that once crisscrossed the city and Detroit's rise as the Motor City. It also shows how it has been left behind when it comes to developing a modern transportation infrastructure. The documentary also looks at transit systems in Spain, plans for high-speed rail in California and the debate over transit in Washington, D.C. It's part of PBS' Blueprint America project examining infrastructure.
