Michigan Women in Municipal Government Reinvents Itself for the 21st Century

Group Unveils New Branding and Website

LANSING, Michigan —Michigan Women in Municipal Government (MWIMG) launched new branding and a new website during the League’s annual Capital Conference in Lansing March 20, 2018.

MWIMG’s rebranding is part of a strategic visioning process that began about a year ago in an effort to meet the needs of 21st century women in local government. The visioning process led to a variety of goals and action items, including better communication, more opportunities for training, a supportive mentoring program, and involvement with students interested in government. Chief among those goals was to increase the organization’s public presence. That goal has now come to life with the launch of MWIMG’s very first website.

“We want to empower women in government and encourage students to enter the profession,” said City of Ferrysburg Mayor Rebecca Hopp, who also serves as president of Michigan Women in Municipal Government. “Our goal is to provide them with the resources and support they need to be successful throughout their career.”

The MWIMG website will feature a fresh, updated logo and a wealth of information tailored to its audience. Visitors to the site will find details on the organization’s mission and goals, membership, events, training opportunities, and more. There’s even a unique map element that allows MWIMG members to find other members in their area.

“We want to be the go-to source for women at all stages of their government career,” said Hopp.
