Deb Stuart Receives Community Builder Award

Michigan Municipal League Honors Mason City Administrator

LANSING, Michigan – Mason City Administrator Deb Stuart was honored Tuesday with the Community Builder Award by the Michigan Municipal League. She received the award during the League’s annual Capital Conference Awards Gala March 20 in Lansing.

Stuart was recognized for her outstanding work and leadership in economic development in her community and across the state.

“Deb has been a leader on economic development issues facing communities in Michigan,” said Mason Mayor Pro Tem Marlon Brown, who presented the award to Stuart on Tuesday. “She has been a key player in Mason’s revitalization and development.”

Having come to the management profession from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Stuart has been able to provide critical feedback to the League staff on legislation impacting various facets of community development.

She also served as a trainer on economic development to local leaders for Governor Snyder’s Rising Tide program. In addition to her work in these endeavors, she also serves as the vice president for the Michigan Women in Municipal Government, has helped facilitate that organization’s rebirth, and represented them in Washington D.C. last year during many visits with the Michigan congressional delegation.

About the Community Builder Award: This award honors individuals whose leadership creates positive community change. Through efforts such as encouraging civic engagement, supporting up-and-coming leaders, fostering good working relationships, and thinking strategically, they make their community a place where people truly love to live and work.
