Harper Woods and Farmington Hills Officials to Lead Statewide Organization

Michigan Women in Municipal Government Also Names Board Members

LANSING, Michigan — The Michigan Women in Municipal Government (MWIMG) recently named their officers and board members for the statewide organization.

The MWIMG membership selected Valerie Kindle, mayor pro tem of Harper Woods, as its new president and Farmington Hills Councilmember Theresa Rich as its new vice president. Flint Councilmember Monica Galloway was selected to serve on the MWIMG board. They join on the MWIMG governing body secretary Jennifer Shuster, mayor of Leslie, and board member Maria Willett, special assistant to the mayor in Rochester Hills. Shuster and Willett were reappointed to their positions.

Kindle now succeeds Ferrysburg Mayor Rebecca Hopp as president. The selections were done during the organization’s meeting Friday, Sept. 21, during the Michigan Municipal League’s 2018 Convention in Grand Rapids.

“I am honored to help lead this organization for the next year,” Kindle said. “With so much happening in society today, now is an ideal time to continue to do whatever we can to advance women leaders in local government.”
