Michigan Municipal League Honors Graduates of 2017 Elected Officials Academy

LANSING, Michigan —The Michigan Municipal League honored 15 graduates of its 2017 Elected Officials Academy during the League’s Annual Capital Conference in Lansing March 22, 2017.

Now in its 20th year, the Elected Officials Academy is an ongoing four-level program that educates and recognizes elected officials across the state for their dedication to becoming as professional and knowledgeable as possible in the role of public servant. The Elected Officials Academy, a voluntary education and recognition program, was created in 1997 by a board of elected officials working with League staff.

Recipients of the 2017 Level One Education Award who have completed 25 academy credits are the following elected officials: Saad Almasmari, Councilmember, Hamtramck; Denis Boismier, Councilmember, Gibraltar; Danielle Cusson, Mayor, Linden; Brad Dick, Councilmember, Linden; John Hoppough, Mayor, Greenville; Anam Miah, Councilmember, Hamtramck; Ian Perrotta, Councilmember, Hamtramck; Pauline Repp, Mayor, Port Huron; Donna Stallings, Councilmember, Lathrup Village; and Tim Williams, Councilmember, Inkster.

The recipient of the 2017 Level Two Leadership Award by completing 55 academy credits is Lisa Hicks-Clayton, Councilmember, Dearborn Heights.

Recipients of the 2017 Level Three Governance Award by completing 100 academy credits are Lois Allen-Richardson, Councilmember, Ypsilanti; Karen Majewski, Mayor, Hamtramck; and Rusty Showalter, Councilmember, West Branch.
