Rochester Hills and Harper Woods Officials Join Statewide Board

Michigan Women in Municipal Government Selects New Board Members

LANSING, Michigan — The Michigan Women in Municipal Government (MWIMG) recently elected two new members to the board that oversees the statewide organization. The MWIMG membership selected Maria Willett, special assistant to the mayor in Rochester Hills, and Valerie Kindle, Harper Woods city councilmember, to serve on the organization’s board.

Willett and Kindle each received two-year terms during the organization’s annual meeting Wednesday, March 23, during the Michigan Municipal League’s Capital Conference in Lansing. They join on the MWIMG board President Rebecca Hopp, Ferrysburg Mayor Pro Tem; Vice President Deborah Stuart, city manager of Mason, and Secretary Marie Wicks, clerk for the City of East Lansing.

“We had tremendous interest in the two seats we had open on our board this year, which speaks to the energy the members of this group bring to advancing women leaders in local government,” said MWIMG President Rebecca Hopp. “We’re very excited to have them on our board as we all work together to improve and expand the organization.”
