FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Feb. 6, 2017

Michigan Municipal League Ready to Work with Gov. Snyder's Retirement Benefit Review Committee

The following can be attributed to Chris Hackbarth, Michigan Municipal League Director of State & Federal Affairs:

“The Michigan Municipal League is ready to roll up its sleeves and work with Gov. Rick Snyder’s Task Force on Responsible Retirement Reform for Local Government. We are confident he and the members of this important committee share our commitment to fiscal responsibility. Having all sides of the issue at the table is encouraging and can hopefully lead to fruitful and thoughtful conversations. Cities want to be able to provide competitive benefits to their retirees. But in order to provide modern health care benefits, we need modern health care plan designs. Anthony Minghine, the League’s associate executive director and COO, has been meeting across the state with municipal leaders, and will be a strong voice for our cities on this important task force.”

For additional information contact the League’s Matt Bach, director of media relations, at (734) 669-6317 (office) and mbach@mml.org.
