Michigan Municipal League Promotes Summer Minnick to Executive Team

 

ANN ARBOR, Michigan – Michigan Municipal League employee Summer Minnick was recently promoted to the position of Deputy Executive Director and Chief Membership Officer.

In this new role, Minnick oversees the strategic direction and implementation of the League’s external programming, including State and Federal Affairs,

“I’m extremely pleased to promote Summer to Deputy Executive Director and CMO,” said Dan Gilmartin, executive director and CEO for the League. “Summer has excelled in a variety of leadership roles here at the League for a number of years. Now, she’ll be an integral part of our leadership team helping guide the organization’s strategic direction and future.”

Minnick, of East Lansing, started at the League in 2002 and has held a variety of positions, including director of state affairs coordinating the organization’s lobbying activities at the state level.

“I love working on behalf of Michigan’s communities and it’s truly an honor to become Deputy Executive Director and CMO,” Minnick said, “For more than a decade, the League has been an innovator in the way it guides and serves its members – Michigan’s cities, villages and urban townships. I’m excited to play a greater role in what we’re going to do in the years to come.”

Prior to joining the League, Summer was the executive director of government relations at the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce. She was also previously employed by the Office of Governor John Engler and the City of East Lansing. She earned a Bachelor of Science from Central Michigan University and a Masters in Public Administration from Michigan State University. She resides in East Lansing with her husband and three daughters.
