Michigan Municipal League Receives Seven Communications Awards

Learn Earns Four MarCom, Three MSAE Diamond Honors

ANN ARBOR, Michigan – The Michigan Municipal League recently received seven awards for its various communications and marketing work and projects in two separate contests.

The Ann Arbor-based League earned four MarCom awards from the Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals (AMCP), based in Dallas, Texas, and three gold-level honors through the Michigan Society of Association Executives (MSAE) Diamond Awards program.

The League has been a participant in the MarCom contest for several years and this is only the second time the League has won a platinum award—the highest level bestowed in the international competition. The League won platinum for its saveMIcity municipal finance reform initiative in the public relations category. SaveMIcity is a long-term effort, officially launched by the League in March, that aims to educate the public about Michigan’s broken system for funding municipalities. The goal of the initiative is to inspire legislative and policy reform that will better help communities become economic drivers for the state.

The League also won two gold-level MarCom awards—one for the saveMIcity.org website and the other for The Review magazine. The League also got an honorable mention in the association magazine cover category.

For MSAE’s Diamond Awards competition, the League received three gold awards in the categories of magazine publishing for The Review magazine; innovative collaboration for the organization’s PlacePOP program; and excellence in government relations for the saveMIcity work.

Judges are industry professionals who look for companies and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry.

More than 6,000 entries from throughout the world were submitted in this year’s MarCom competition and winners are selected from over 300 categories in print, web, video and strategic communications. A full list of Platinum and Gold winners can be found on the MarCom Awards website at www.marcomawards.com. MarCom is one of the oldest, largest and most prestigious creative competitions in the world. MarCom is sponsored and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP), a 22-year-old international organization consisting of several thousand creative professionals.
