You Won! Now What?

Training for Newly Elected Officials in Grayling on Dec. 1

GRAYLING, Michigan – The elections are over and now the real work begins.

To hit the ground running, the Michigan Municipal League is having a “You Won! Now What?” training in Grayling December 1 for newly elected and seasoned officials.

The session, from 6-9 p.m. (check-in starts at 5:30 p.m.) December 1 at the Ramada Inn, 2650 I-75 Business Loop, Grayling, will cover core topics that will help educate first-time elected, as well as experienced officials, on the basic functions they will need to know in their roles as public leaders.

The Grayling event is part of a series of Newly Elected Officials trainings the League is having throughout the state. Other past and upcoming trainings are in Ferrysburg, Wayne, Lansing, Southfield, Birch Run, and Ann Arbor.

Topics covered at the trainings are an overview of basic local government, the Freedom of Information Act, council roles and responsibilities, business meeting basics, government finance, an overview of the Open Meetings Act, and a panel discussion on “what I’ve learned as an elected official” from experienced area elected leaders.

The cost is $90 for League members and $145 for League nonmember government officials. Go here for details.

For more information contact the League’s Matt Bach at or (734) 669-6317.
