Michigan Municipal League Wins Four MarCom Awards for Marketing and Communications Excellence

ANN ARBOR, Michigan – The Michigan Municipal League has won four international MarCom Awards for its marketing and communication efforts, including two “Gold” awards.

Earlier this month the League received a Gold Award for its The Review magazine, the May/June 2014 “Resiliency” issue with Grand Rapids officials on the cover, and a Gold Award for the The Prosperity Agenda radio show that is co-sponsored by the League and the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA). The radio show airs each month on News/Talk 760 WJR and is co-hosted by League CEO and Executive Director Dan Gilmartin.

In addition, the League got an Honorable Mention Award in the writing/feature article category for “The Great Revenue Sharing Heist,” a The Review magazine article by the League’s Anthony Minghine. The League also received an Honorable Mention Award for its Partnership for Place animated video that was unveiled during the 2014 Capital Conference in Lansing.

“As an organization, the League believes it is essential to inform the public and our member communities in as many different ways as possible,” said Gilmartin. “One way is through more traditional methods, such as our print magazine and radio show, and another way is digitally, such as through the animated video posted on our website. So it is truly an honor to get these three vastly different communication tools recognized at such a high level.”

The MarCom Awards are administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals out of Dallas, Texas. There were more than 6,500 entries from throughout the United States, Canada, and several other countries in the 2014 competition.

MarCom Awards is an international creative competition that recognizes outstanding achievement by marketing and communication professions. Entries come from corporate marketing and communication departments, advertising agencies, PR firms, design shops, production companies, and freelancers. The MarCom statuette graces the trophy cases of some of the top business and communication firms in the world.

Earlier this fall, the League also earned three awards in the Michigan Society of Association Executives’ Annual Diamond Award Contest. The League won a Diamond Award for The Review magazine, a Diamond Award in the innovative collaboration category for its crowdfunding work, and a Gold Honorable Mention Award for the “Great Revenue Sharing Heist” information campaign.
