Calumet Comptroller Susan Dana Receives Special Award of Merit from Michigan Municipal League

MARQUETTE, Michigan —The Michigan Municipal League honored Calumet Comptroller Susan Dana with a 2014 Special Award of Merit during the League’s Annual Convention on Oct. 16 in Marquette.

Dana has been the comptroller for Calumet since 1986, and will be retiring this year. While serving her 29 years in this Keweenaw city, she has served as a region 7 officer on several different occasions. The League’s region 7 covers the Upper Peninsula. She has attended every single region 7 meeting during her 29 years of city service, including the times she served as regional officer—from 1993-1994 and again from 2007-2009.

“When it comes to dedication and reliable and consistent service to the League, I’d be hard-pressed to find anyone with more commitment to our organization than Sue Dana has demonstrated over the last three decades,” said League CEO and Executive Director Dan Gilmartin.

In addition, she has served on the League nominating committee, as well as on the community boards of the Coppertown Mining Museum, Main Street Calumet, the Keweenaw Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, and the Keweenaw National Historical Park Commission.

About the Awards of Merit: Each year, the Michigan Municipal League recognizes and honors a select few individuals with Special Awards of Merit for outstanding contributions to Michigan communities. The merit awards are given out during the League’s annual Convention.
