Michigan Municipal League Honors Huntington Woods Mayor Pro Tem

MARQUETTE, Michigan — The Michigan Municipal League honored Huntington Woods Mayor Pro Tem Jeff Jenks with an Honorary Life Membership during the League’s Annual Convention Oct. 16 in Marquette.

“Jeff is a past president of the Michigan Municipal League Board of Trustees and has long been one of the strongest advocates for the League and our services. He’s also a staunch believer in training for elected officials,” said League CEO and Executive Director Dan Gilmartin. “In addition, Jeff has been a major donor and supporter of the MML Foundation.”

Jenks has served on several League committees, including the Legislative Governance Committee, Transportation Infrastructure Committee, and the Board of Trustees Nominating Committee. In addition, Jenks has completed Levels 1 through 3 of the League’s Elected Officials Academy program and served on the EOA board from 2006 to 2009. He also served on the Michigan and the World Coalition Board through the League and has served as a panelist for several training programs. He’s also a proud supporter of the Michigan Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials and has been a member of the organization since 2012.

During his time as League board president, from 2009 to 2010, he served on the League’s Legal Defense Fund and participated in multiple news conferences and legislative hearings on behalf of the League. In 1998, he received the League’s outstanding service award for his work on the rewrite of the League’s legislative policies.

About the award: The Honorary Life Membership, first awarded in 1932, is the League’s highest individual honor, reserved for the most active and inspiring leaders dedicated to the League and its mission.
