Summer Minnick Receives New, Expanded Role at League
LANSING, Michigan - Summer Minnick has been named the new Director of Policy Initiatives and Federal Affairs for the Michigan Municipal League, the League announced today.
Minnick has been with the League 10 years, including the last seven as Director of State Affairs in charge of coordinating the League’s lobbying activities at the state level. In this newly created and expanded role as Director of Policy Initiatives and Federal Affairs, Minnick will lead the League’s policy strategies around the concept of placemaking. She’ll also serve as the League’s federal liaison in Washington D.C.
“After 10 years of dedicated work, a majority of which were as our chief lobbyist, Summer has the knowledge and skill set needed to head up the League’s expanded effort to develop a more comprehensive policy agenda aimed at strengthening placemaking in our cities,” said Dan Gilmartin, Executive Director and CEO of the League.
“In this role, she will be working with our partners in Michigan and around the world to help develop initiatives which will strengthen our cities’ ability to grow and prosper in the new economy,” he added.
Under her leadership, the League’s Lansing team was recognized in the spring of 2011 as one of the top lobbying organizations in Michigan. Minnick said she was honored to serve in this new role at the League.
“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to broaden my focus at the League. I fully believe that placemaking initiatives will be what enable our cities to compete globally for talent attraction and retention,” Minnick said.
