Rogers City Mayor Beach Hall Receives Special Award of Merit from Michigan Municipal League

MACKINAC ISLAND, Michigan (Oct. 4, 2012)—-The Michigan Municipal League honored Rogers City Mayor Beach Hall with a 2012 Special Award of Merit during the League’s Annual Convention on October 4 at Mackinac Island.

Beach Hall is currently serving his sixth term as mayor of Rogers City. Prior to that, he chaired the city’s Community Development Authority and Harbor Advisory Committee. He is a founding member of the Michigan Port Collaborative Board of Directors and also belongs to the Michigan Lighthouse Alliance.

hall Hall is also involved in many community and church activities in the Rogers City area and serves on several other boards and committees for Northeast Michigan organizations.

“Beach Hall epitomizes professionalism at the local elected level. Mayor Hall continually seeks opportunities to enhance the quality of life and sense of place in Rogers City,” said League Executive Director and CEO Dan Gilmartin. “As a role model and mentor, Beach Hall is a beacon in more ways than one for the sunrise side of our great state.”

Hall earned the Level Three Governance Award in 2007 from the Michigan Municipal League’s Elected Officials Academy, an ongoing program that recognizes educational and leadership accomplishments among elected officials.

“Having served as a panelist and shared his experiences at newly elected official trainings, Mayor Hall’s friendly smile is easily recognizable and welcomed by many newer members at League events,” said Gilmartin. “We are proud to acknowledge his many contributions with a Special Award of Merit.”

Before retiring and moving to Rogers City, Hall spent more than 35 years working in a variety of assignments at the plant, division and corporate level for General Motors.
