Media Room Press ReleaseFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Matt Bach Multiculturalism: An Asset for Michigan's FutureSteve Tobocman to Speak at League's 112th Convention, Sept. 21-24
In the early 20th century, Tobocman's grandfather emigrated from Poland to southwest Detroit to pursue the American Dream: the freedom to earn a decent living, practice his faith and express his political views. It's a common history shared by many Americans, one that helped define the nation and fueled its success. Tobocman is a visionary who sees in our past one of the keys to America's future. Among his many endeavors, Tobocman is spearheading the Global Detroit study for the New Economy Initiative and Detroit Regional Chamber, looking at how southeastern Michigan can utilize foreign-born talent and global connections to expand the economy. It's a dramatic example of the League's 21c3 program in action.
The Michigan Municipal League advocates on behalf of its member communities in Lansing, Washington D.C., and the courts; provides educational opportunities for elected and appointed municipal officials; and assists municipal leaders in administering services to their communities through League programs and services.
