Award Nominations Due
Help Honor An Elected Official

Do you know of an elected official in your community who continually impresses and inspires you? Is there someone you’d like to applaud for their tireless promotion of education and training for those who serve in local government?

If so, you can honor them with a Michigan Municipal League award nomination. But time is running out! The deadline for nominations is June 30, 2010.

The Jim Sinclair Exceptional Service Award was created in memory of Rogers City Councilmember Jim Sinclair to honor his legacy of personal dedication, passion and commitment to the League and its mission. With a tireless work ethic, Jim was a fervent believer in education and training for elected officials.

Award Eligibility: To be considered for the Jim Sinclair Exceptional Service Award, nominees must be:

Affiliated with the League as a municipal official or staff, a League staff member or an active participant in the League’s mission.
Active in furthering the cause of educating elected officials so that communities may benefit from their education and experience.

The Michael A. Guido Leadership and Public Service Award was created in memory of Dearborn Mayor Michael Guido, who valiantly lobbied in Lansing and D.C. on behalf of his community, and initiated outstanding improvements to his city that remain a standard of excellence for local chief elected officials.

Award Eligibility: To be considered for the Michael A. Guido Leadership and Public Service Award, nominees must be a chief elected official who:

Has demonstrated excellence in leadership.
Has shown perseverance in making a difference in their community for a sustained period of time.
Is in office at the time of their nomination.
