ANN ARBOR, Mich. – For lifetime commitment to Michigan communities, Richard A. Wendt, a member of the Dickinson Wright law firm in Grand Rapids, was chosen to receive a 2009 Excellence in Municipal Law and Governance Award from the Michigan Association of Municipal Attorneys (MAMA).
The Award honors select individuals whose careers embody significant achievement in and contribution to municipal governance and to the understanding and practice of municipal law.
Wendt was presented the Award during the October 6 Grand Rapids City Commission meeting by William Mathewson, Michigan Municipal League general counsel and MAMA secretary-treasurer.
As part of the Award ceremony, retired Grand Rapids City Attorney Phil Balkema said, "Praised by clients and colleagues alike, people speak of Dick's patience, demeanor, skill and work ethic, of his fairness, deep knowledge and clear thinking."
