Crumbling Roads and Bridges in Your Community?
WHAT: The leaders of the state’s three largest transportation planning agencies will discuss where the federal stimulus funds will be allocated to rebuild roads and bridges in Michigan and expand public transit to create jobs and generate commercial and residential investments.
WHEN: 4 p.m., Tuesday, March 3, 2009 (Today!)
WHERE: Lansing Center (Michigan Avenue at Cedar, downtown Lansing)
DETAILS: Michigan will receive billions of dollars in federal stimulus funds. A significant portion will be used to create jobs rebuilding the state’s crumbling roads and bridges. The funds will also be used to expand public transit, which other states and cities are doing to create thousands of new jobs and generate billions of dollars in new commercial and residential developments. MDOT, SEMCOG and the GVMC will determine where the largest appropriations are made. Stuedle, Stypula and Tait will speak to hundreds of mayors, city and village council members and other local leaders from across Michigan gathered at the Michigan Municipal League’s 2009 Capital Conference at the Lansing Center.
