Legislative
Link
Beginning on August 2, 2002, the State and Federal Affairs
Division of the League will send out, via email (or by fax, if you prefer),
a short weekly legislative update titled "League Legislative Link."
Our goal is to update you on hot legislative issues and to give you a
sense of the mood in Lansing and Washington and how it may impact Michigan
cities and villages.
We will continue to periodically give you a longer description of specific
legislative issues through our Legislative Bulletin. For critical issues,
we will continue to send you our Fax Alerts/Advisories.

Association of Municipal Attorneys - Click here to Join!
The Michigan Association of Municipal Attorneys (MAMA),
in cooperation with the Michigan Municipal League, is establishing a listserv
of Michigan municipal attorneys. A listserv is a group of email addresses
that all receive an email when an email is sent to the listserv address.
The listserv is being developed to provide a mechanism for municipal attorneys
to address issues of common concern. The type of listserv being developed
for municipal attorneys is referred to as a two-way listserv. Anyone who
is a member of the listserv will be able to send a message that will be
received by everyone on the list. A recipient of the email can then reply
and everyone in the listserv will receive the reply. If the recipient
wishes to respond only to the person sending the message or to a select
audience, a new and separate email message should be addressed to those
persons.
Membership is limited to members and associate members of the Michigan
Association of Municipal Attorneys. A member of MAMA is any city or village
attorney, deputy or assistant. An associate member is an attorney with
substantial interest in municipal law who has been approved by the MAMA
Board of Directors. There will be no charge to being a member of the municipal
listserv. Membership will be developed, however, only from those municipal
attorneys who indicate a desire to be a member of the listserv.
If, after subscribing to the list, you wish to leave the list, you may
do so by sending an email to Susan Vasher at svasher@mml.org requesting
removal from the list.
Village listserv
The Michigan Municipal League has established a listserv for village
officials and employees. A listserv is a group of email addresses that
all receive an e-mail when an e-mail is sent to the listserv address.
The listserv was developed to provide a mechanism for municipal officials/employees
in villages to address issues of common concern. The listserv is referred
to as a two-way listserv--anyone who is a member of the listserv will
be able to send a message that will be received by everyone on the
list. A recipient of the e-mail can then reply and everyone in the
listserv will receive the reply. If the recipient wishes to respond
only to the person sending the message or to a select audience, a new
and separate e-mail message should be addressed to those persons.
Membership is limited to current member village officials and employees.
If, after subscribing to the list, you wish to leave the list, you
may do so by sending an email to Susan Vasher at svasher@mml.org requesting
removal from the list.
