During the committee's work, MML Executive Director Dan Gilmartin suggested that the state promote transit-oriented development and support efforts to allow locals to support transit operations. We applaud Subcommittee Chair Rep. Marie Donigan (D-Royal Oak) for including these recommendations in the report and for spearheading the effort to improve transit in our state. The subcommittee is expected to meet Wednesday, February 20, to officially adopt the report. Drive Michigan Campaign – With transportation needs increasing, and available funding not able to keep pace with the growing demands of the state's transportation network, the Drive MI Campaign represents a comprehensive strategy for fully funding Michigan's transportation system in the 21st century. The Drive MI Campaign is fully supported by the Michigan Transportation Team (MTT), a partnership of businesses, associations, including the League, and citizens linked with the common goal of improving Michigan's transportation infrastructure. 2007 Growth and Transportation Survey – Three-fourths of Americans believe improving public transportation and building smarter development are better long-term solutions for reducing traffic congestion than building roads. More than 70 percent are concerned with how growth and development affects global warming. Contact
