Elected Officials Academy Administrative Details

Eligibility for Participation
The Elected Officials Academy is provided as a service of the Michigan Municipal League. It is open to all elected officials in Michigan cities and villages. Administrative staff may attend any educational program but may not enroll in the Elected Officials Academy.

Credit Information
The amount of credit each course receives is equal to the length of the course. For example, a three-hour class is worth three credits. Each class will also offer continuing education credits as normally offered with MML programs. You will receive a letter four times a year to help you determine your current credit status.

Registration
Registration for Elected Officials Academy programs will be handled in the same manner as other League programs, by mailing or faxing registration forms to the League Headquarters at (734) 662-8083.

Fee Payment
For 2006, the cost for each educational program is $20 per hour. A three-hour course, therefore, would cost $60 while a two-hour course would cost $40. The cost per level will vary depending upon the amount of leadership and service credit an individual earns. Payment for an Educational Program can be transferred to another person if the original registrant is not able to attend. However, Elected Officials Academy credit is not transferable.

Refunds
Refunds will be given if the League is notified in writing, by fax or mail, at least four business days prior to the event.

Special Needs
Those needing special accommodations should contact the Michigan Municipal League’s Education Services at least four business days prior to the event at (734) 669-6312.

Good Luck!
We would like to make it as easy as possible for you to join in this program and be recognized for taking extraordinary steps to keep abreast of trends, technology, laws and issues that will affect local units of government in the coming years.

Good luck in your pursuit of professionalism, competence and integrity as an elected official in a city or village in the great state of Michigan!
