Roles and responsibilities of a regional officer

As a regional officer your primary role will be to ensure that the regional education seminars are a success by promoting the event through personal contact. This includes writing letters to officials in your region, making phone calls and talking to peers at other networking functions you attend. The purpose is to ensure that other officials understand the value of the seminars. While this will be your primary role, some additional responsibilities for the regional officers are detailed below:

Year 1: Secretary and Year 2: Vice Chair

• Attend summer planning meeting with other officers and MML staff

• Make suggestions for program topics and potential speakers

• Secure prizes from local sponsors for the prize drawings at the end of the seminar

• Moderate one or more sessions at the Regional Education Seminar – attendance required

Year 3: Chair

• Host the Regional Education Seminar

• Host summer planning meeting with other officers and MML staff

• Make suggestions for program topics and potential speakers

• Suggest possible venues and/or caterers for the seminar

• Suggest other activities unique to your community to feature at the regional education seminar (optional)

• Secure prizes from local sponsors for the prize drawings at the end of each seminar

• Chair the Regional Education Seminar – attendance required
