Working with the Media Workshop
November 27, 2012
Do your local media outlets only seem to give negative reports? Do you wish you had more control over what your constituents hear about you and your community? Should you ever say "no comment" or go "off the record?" If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this training is for you. This training will cover developing positive relationships with media outlets, how to represent yourself as a public leader, and the impact of social media.
Scholarship Available for Elected Officials Academy Program
The Tim Doyle Scholarship Fund through the Michigan Municipal League Foundation is offering 3 scholarships to attend the Elected Officials Academy (EOA) Core Weekender for free.
The EOA Core Weekender program will take place February 15-16, 2013 at the Bavarian Inn in Frankenmuth. Attendees will learn roles and responsibilities, the fundamentals of financial management, the essentials of organization, and the basics of planning and zoning. The Core program is a requirement for Level One of the EOA, and is an important step in continuing education for elected officials.

Bring Trainings to Your Community!
If you’re looking for training without the cost and time associated with travel, we are here to help! The League offers affordable on-site trainings and the training comes to you. We will identify a presenter that will address your community’s most urgent needs. Here is an example of one of our newest additions:
Customer Service Training
The function of any business, organization, association or government entity is to enhance the quality of life of those served. Names used to identify those you serve are patients, clients, customers, members, students, and tax payers or citizens. This Customer Service Seminar focuses on human relation skills. It is a motivational presentation that examines the various skills that impact the relationship with a customer and each other.
The League can put together most training topics as an on-site. All you need to do is ask! Please contact Katie Holda at 734-669-6352 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
