Chuck Marohn of Strong Towns to Speak at Convention
At the League’s Annual Convention, October 3-5 on Mackinac Island, the executive director of Strong Towns, is schedule to present on physical design and sustainability. Marohn is a Professional Engineer (PE) licensed in the state of Minnesota and a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). He has a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Minnesota's Institute of Technology and a masters in urban and regional planning from the University of Minnesota's Humphrey Institute.

Strong Regions: Successfully Competing for Federal Transportation Funding in the 21st Century

Please join the Michigan Municipal League, Michigan Suburbs Alliance, Transportation for Michigan, and the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG) for a workshop on financing transit projects in Michigan in a post-earmark era on August 15, 2012, at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, 9:00 am-3:00 pm. This workshop will feature keynote speaker John Porcari, Deputy Secretary of Transportation, as well as panel discussions on federal transportation funding, navigating the money maze, visioning for the future, and transit success stories.
