Are You Ready for the Community Excellence Award's First Round? Every year, we ask you to share your most creative projects and innovative solutions for the annual Community Excellence Awardcompetition. But we've also asked ourselves how we could improve the CEA process itself, to make it simpler and easier for everyone to participate without a lot of time, expense, and expertise required. So here's our own innovative solution: A fast and easy first-round process during Regional Roundtables at the 2012 Capital Conference, March 20-21, in Lansing! Step One :Click here to register for Capital Conference. Step Two: Click here to submit the online CEA entry form. Step Three: Stand up and deliver a simple, five-minute verbal "elevator pitch" to your neighbors at your Regional Roundtable—no videos or high-tech presentations. That's it! The Region winners will then go on to the final round at the League's Annual Convention in the fall. That's where they'll get to pull out all the stops for the kind of high-quality, entertaining productions that have become such a highlight of Convention. Don't miss this opportunity to really help your community shine!

Bring Trainings to Your Community! If you’re looking for training without the cost and time associated with travel, we are here to help! The League offers affordable on-site trainings, and the training comes to you. We will identify a presenter that will address your community’s most urgent needs. Here is an example of one of our newest additions: Team Building for Councils To present a positive and productive atmosphere for decision making, you need strong leadership among councilmembers demonstrated by teamwork, communication, problem solving, and positive relationships. This session will focus on council meetings and how to work together as a team to accomplish goals and run effective meetings. Click here to view the list of on-site training topics. If you would like to schedule an on-site training, please contact Katie Holda at kholda@mml.org or 734-669-6352.
