Capital Conference 2013 RECAP

Those were just a few of the topics covered at the 2013 Capital Conference, which was held April 9-10 in Lansing.

In all, nearly 450 people packed the Lansing Center to hear the latest on all the state and federal issues that impact local communities, and to network and make their voices heard on matters of public policy.

snyderMichigan Governor RickSnyder spoke at the Welcome Session on Tuesday, providing his administration's viewpoint on key policy issues confronting local municipalities.

The Spring Expo featured an amazing array of circus acrobats who entertained and enthralled municipal officials as they visited with exhibitors and networked with fellow members throughout the hall.

The Regional Roundtables voted on the 2013 Community Excellence Award Regional Winners, who will now go on to the final statewide competition at the League's 2013 Convention, September 17-20 in Detroit.

U.S. Under-Secretary of Transportation Polly Trottenberg
was the keynote speaker at the Awards Luncheon on Wednesday.Trottenberg is the principal advisor to the Secretary of the Department of Transportation. She gave a detailed and insightful update on what's happening at the federal level regarding funding, policies and initiatives across all modes of transportation.
