League Vice President Karen Majewski moderated at the Legislative Primer session, presented by the League’s Director of State Affairs Summer Minnick and Samantha Harkins, legislative associate for state affairs primarily handling labor, human resources, energy and technology.

Officials earned EOA credits at the session but it was also a great way to get comfortable talking about the issues with legislators, the media and the general public. The League depends on the grassroots efforts of members for advocacy so it’s important to help local officials – “our soldiers in the field” - get the information they need to feel comfortable testifying on various issues, said Summer Minnick.

Summer covered revenue sharing and transportation funding while Samantha talked about economic development tools and PA 312.

Testifying has benefits for local officials too, said Minnick, who get increased visibility on the issues with the media.
