CAPITAL CONFERENCE 2012: THE POLITICS OF PLACEMAKING
If you’re already planning to join the League on Mackinac Island this October for our Convention you should consider attending some of the extra education workshops we have lined up about getting grants for your community, parliamentary procedure at your meetings, working with the media and learning to lobby. The Michigan Municipal League has four “post-convention” education sessions scheduled to take place from 1-4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, following our Convention at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. Also, you don’t have to attend Convention to sign up for one of these post-convention sessions, which range in cost from $10 to $75 for League members and $10 to $130 for non-League members. One of our workshops, titled “Where’s the Money? How to Tap into Private Sector Funding for Municipal Projects” features Dr. Beverly A. Browning, a Michigan native and long-time League workshop presenter. Browning will review organizations that award grants to local governments and lead the audience in writing private sector funding requests.Check more information on Browning’s workshop and the other sessions here on this faxable registration page.
