The Michigan Municipal League’s 2012 Convention on Mackinac Island October 3-5 will have a series of vendor-sponsored education sessionson everything from placemaking to financial reporting. One such session, titled “Your Infrastructure, Your Buildings – For Today and Tomorrow” will address the question: How do you build infrastructure for the future while addressing the immediate needs of your citizens and businesses?

The session, presented by Siemens, will review how renewable energy solutions, sustainable infrastructure upgrades and green building projects can enhance property values, improve wellbeing, increase business and employee productivity and improve public relations. Learn about fiscally responsible solutions to municipal planning that will help your community thrive into the future.

Check out the Convention agenda and more detailed list of topics to be discussed, including a discussion on some of the controversial ballot issues that may appear on the November ballot, new laws regarding cell towers, health care reform, how to secure grant funding for your community, how governments can address illegal drugs in their communities, collaborative innovation by Jeff DeGraff, local finance issues and strategies, and community design and sustainability.
