MML Foundation boat cruise in 2008.

In between the plethora of education sessions available at the Michigan Municipal League Convention, we encourage attendees also to participate in two events that support the MML Foundation. The annual Silent Auction and Boat Cruise return to the 2012 Convention taking place October 3-5 on Mackinac Island.

The boat cruise to the Mackinac Bridge aboard the Arnold Cruise Line is 8 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 3. The cruise includes snacks, beer/wine/soda, and entertainment (a portion of which is a tax deductible contribution to the Foundation). Space is limited, so you are urged to reserve your spot when you register for Convention, using online registration.

Tickets are $30 and must be purchased in advance with proceeds going to the League’s Foundation. The Foundation’s mission is to enhance and develop leadership in local government through research, education and by providing opportunities for training.

Also returning to Convention is the annual silent auction. We continue to seek contributions to the silent auction by bidding or donating an item. This event presents a great opportunity to bring home unique gifts representing communities across Michigan, or you can highlight your community, local businesses, and local talent by donating an item.  We are again offering an online feature to our auction process. You will have the option to contribute and bid for donated items online prior to the live actual silent auction event.

Funds generated through the MML Foundation's auctions help support the League's mission to enhance and develop leadership in local government.
