Anthony Minghine

The Michigan Municipal League’s Anthony Minghine will lead a special discussion about the challenges local governments are currently facing in a variety of areas, including finance and collaboration, during the League’s 2012 Convention October 3-5 on Mackinac Island.

Local governments are facing some of the most difficult financial times in memory, and elected and appointed officials face the daunting task of managing their complex organizations during these trying times. In addition, there is mounting pressure to look to expand consolidation and cooperative efforts as a solution to local financial pressures.

During this session, Minghine, chief operations officer for the League, will review and discuss some of the key operational and finance topics facing local government and review strategies, including cooperation and consolidation for dealing with those issues.

Check out the Convention agenda and more detailed list of topics to be discussed, including a discussion on some of the controversial ballot issues that may appear on the November ballot, new laws regarding cell towers, health care reform, how to secure grant funding for your community, how governments can address illegal drugs in their communities, collaborative innovation by Jeff DeGraff, local finance issues and strategies, and community design and sustainability.
