The Michigan Municipal League’s 2012 Convention on Mackinac Island October 3-5 will have a series of vendor-sponsored education sessions on everything from placemaking to financial reporting.

One of those sessions is “Living with Health Care Reform and a Look into the Future of Health Care Plans” sponsored by Michigan Planners. In this session attendees will have a light-hearted but informative conversation about the various aspects of Health Care Reform and how to easily implement them within the local municipality. The session will also look at the most cost-effective PPACA compliant health and drug programs that local governments can consider for the future health care needs of employees.

Check out the Convention agenda and more detailed list of topics to be discussed, including a discussion on some of the controversial ballot issues that may appear on the November ballot, new laws regarding cell towers, health care reform, how to secure grant funding for your community, how governments can address illegal drugs in their communities, collaborative innovation by Jeff DeGraff, local finance issues and strategies, and community design and sustainability. Be sure to register by Aug 31 to get the group discount rate at the Grand Hotel.
