The arts, culture and creative industries are a powerful asset in Michigan’s reinvention.

The Michigan Municipal League firmly believes in generating a “vibe” in our communities that fuels innovation, growth and promise for the future.  Learn how your community can put the arts and creativity to work at the League’s annual Convention taking place Oct. 3-5, 2012, on Mackinac Island.

At the Convention, you’ll hear from leading experts in the arts and creativity community about how engaged community partners and stakeholders are shaping visions and strategies for how the arts, culture and creative industries will define a “sense of place”, fuel economic growth, and transform community life. A session called Creative State MI:
The Arts and Creativity as a Strategy for Michigan Communities features ArtServe President & CEO Jennifer Goulet and panelists Debra Polich, executive director of the Ann Arbor Arts Alliance and Artrain USA and Leslie Donaldson, executive director of the Arts Council of Greater Lansing.Check out the Convention agenda and more detailed list of topics to be discussed, including a discussion on some of the controversial ballot issues that may appear on the November ballot, new laws regarding cell towers, health care reform, how to secure grant funding for your community, how governments can address illegal drugs in their communities, local finance issues and strategies, and community design and sustainability.
