This fall on Mackinac Island, we gathered together some world-class experts from the public, business, and nonprofit sectors to fill your municipal toolbox with creative solutions for challenges of every scale, and communities of every size.
From civic engagement and health care plans to an update on new illegal drug issues, the League's 2012 Annual Convention offered indepth educational opportunities for local officials and staff. This year the League is also offering Post-Convention Workshops on topics ranging from learning to lobby to finding private sector funding for municipal projects.
New sessions were added to the agenda as needed, to make sure our members have the latest information on all the issues that affect local government.
In November, Michigan voters will decide the fate of Public Act 4— commonly called the Emergency Manager Act of 2011. In fact, we could see several proposals on the November ballot that could have significant impacts on local governments. Is the Michigan Constitution under attack? Are your rights being threatened or preserved? With so much at stake, this important new general session gave the pros and cons of ballot proposals that could affect you.
