The first general session of the League convention kicked off with a bang...with Fred Kent leading the charge about how to make better places and better communities!  Fred is the founder and President of Project for Public Spaces (PPS), a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people create and sustain public places that build communities. League members saw examples of what PPS is doing to help communities throughout the world, and the examples were stunning.  Here in the U.S., PPS has assisted communities like Chicago and New York in moving their communities to the 21st century.  They also have worked with Detriot to make Campus Martius Park a place where people want to be and congergate.  They really know their stuff, and Fred showed it in his presentation!  Check out their website at http://www.pps.org/, and check out the Leagus's Center for 21st Century Communities (21c3) at http://www.mml.org/resources/educenter/index.html
