Rick Snyder's successful business career included guiding the growth of Gateway computers to a Fortune 500 company. Prior to becoming the state's highest elected official, he was actively involved in economic development on a state and local level. Since taking office in January, the governor has worked closely with the League on a variety of issues. Members heard the latest from the governor himself at Thursday's general session.

As a pioneering real estate developer for over 33 years, Peter Allen has remodeled $20 million worth of mostly historic buildings in downtown Ann Arbor and along the North Main riverfront. He has also taught over 3000 U of M students on placemaking at the Ross and Taubman Schools.
	Sadicka White President Sadicka & Associates Physical Design & Walkability	Engage. In 13 years as the Director of Planning & Development for the city of Gahanna, OH, Sadicka White developed five TIF Districts generating over $100 million in investment and resulting in over one million square feet of development. White discussed how good Physical Design & Walkability can create a true sense of place that energizes urban redevelopment.
	Capt. Mark Adamshick USN Retired, Ph.D. Leadership	Lead. Capt. Mark Adamshick is a TOPGUN graduate who has flown more than100 combat missions over Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan and the former Yugoslavia, and holds a master's degree in public administration. Captain Adamshick drew on a wealth of personal experience and anecdotes to outline the necessity of maintaining the public trust and the essentiality of moral decision-making and character development on the part of our elected, appointed, and career civil servants. He also explored why seemingly good people sometimes do bad things and suggested a framework for improving civic virtue.
	Malcom Chapman President and Founder, Chapman Group Energize	Energize. Malcom “Chap” Chapman is president and founder of the Chapman Group, which offers a variety of consulting services including retreat facilitation, strategic planning, training, leadership development, course development, and seminars. Chapman draws from wide-ranging experience in both public and private sectors to enrich his work. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp and held the rank of captain at his discharge, enjoyed a career in professional sales, worked as a consultant to the Center for Naval Analysis, and is active with American Society for Training and Development. Chapman’s commitment to local government led him to become active in the National League of Cities, including the NLC Leadership Training Institute (LTI) Seminars.
	Ernesto Sirolli, PhD Founder & CEO Sirolli Institute Entrepreneurship	Empower. In two South Dakota counties, a Sirolli Enterprise Facilitation group helped create 58 new businesses, expanded 21 others and created or retained more than 300 jobs in a single decade. Ernesto Sirolli talked about how to nurture the spark of creative Entrepreneurship in your own community.
