Project Manager
Portage, Michigan

The Project Manager is responsible for providing management, oversight and direction for the technical, supervisory and administrative duties of crews performing utilities’ operation and maintenance activities. This role involves working with the City of Portage staff, public officials, consultants and public entities to achieve objectives, and planning, scheduling, coordinating, assigning and directing the work of a unionized work force and supervisors. This position manages up to 14 direct reports and has responsibility for budget, safety, environmental, performance management and staff development.

• Minimum high school diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred
• Michigan D-1 and S-1 Potable Water Certification OR alternate state equivalent and the ability to obtain within six months; Michigan Storm Water Operators license desired
• 5-10 years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in public water/wastewater treatment operations and water distribution systems
• Valid Michigan driver’s license
• Strong budgeting, forecasting and financial management skills
